Let's be clear too, this is an OLD APARTMENT (not in the charming sense) in the center of Rome, chopped up into 4 rooms. Oh wait, there's cameras, so it's a "guest house". Once we were "checked in" there was no one there providing any service or oversight. The white leather couch at the entrance was disgustingly dirty. Being yelled at on the phone is not welcoming. Also would like to clarify that a "guest house" connotes a warm, family-like atmosphere. On the booking site, and in their own notes, it states information on additional charges such as late check-in fees, etc, but NO INFO on the (hidden) city tax per person, per night fee. It wasn't until nearly 20 minutes later that I finally found general information online about the additional city tax.

He wasn't able to explain anything, so he put Anna on the phone, who started to aggressively yell at me. I even pulled up all my emails to show the receptionist that it stated paid in full. Was yelled at and mistreated at check in for questioning additional city tax and asking for further information which was NOT stated in my confirmation emails. There's no sound proofing between walls, so any little noise is amplified. This is a low rent apartment converted to rooms. This is the worst experience I've ever had traveling over 30+ years.
